Released 5 December 2011
Two Christmas songs from the bottle-strewn grotto of Louis Barabbas & The Bedlam Six. The first is a moderately sacrilegious arrangement of the Victorian classic “Away In A Manger” bringing in everything from do-wap harmonies and cowbell to a ghostly brass band and more than a passing nod to Leadbelly’s “In The Pines”.
The second track is the band’s 2008 self-released December single “Writing My List” featuring haunting cello by Moulettes’ Hannah Miller, who lived with Louis and Matthew at the time.
These songs are available for free (call it a little Christmas present). There is, however, the option to pay an amount of your choosing (money will go towards releasing the next record), but we really are happy for you to have these songs for nothing – after all, Christmas tunes have a pretty short lifespan!
